Biography

2023-24

Amari Evans elevated into a starring role for the City Reapers during the 2023-24 season and was named the Defensive Player of the Year as a result of his stellar play during the regular season. Evans was the league’s premiere perimeter defender as he was always tasked with guarding the opposing team’s lead ball-handler and played a physical style of on-ball defense that translated well to the postseason. In the regular season, Evans finished with an average of 2.2 SPG, which was the second best mark in the league. Playing against the Dreamerz in one of the best games of the year, Evans recorded five steals, tied for the third most in a game this season, while guarding the OTE MVP Eli Ellis. Evans was no slouch on the offensive end either, as he averaged double-digit points at 10.6 PPG while also pulling down 6.1 RPG and dealing out 3.1 APG. Evans' strongest offensive game of the regular season came against the Cold Hearts when he scored 24 points and snared eight boards.

Evans was an integral part of the City Reapers championship winning effort as he played in and started all eight of the Reapers playoff games. Evans ramped up his already stellar defensive intensity, resulting in an average of 2.9 SPG, the third highest mark in the playoffs. Evans greatest performance came in the win-or-go-home contest against the Cold Hearts in Game 3 of the semis where he scored 19 points, pulled down five boards and matched his career-high in steals with five.

Prep

Amari Evans, a 6’5 small forward from Pittsburgh. Amari has had some big performances on the EYBL circuit – including a 23 point game against Maine United playing for the NH Lightning. Last season, he played in Overtime Elite with the OSL Falcons. Amari scored a season high 13 points against the Hillcrest Bruins on February 10. For the season, he averaged 3.4 points per game, scoring in six of the nine games he played in.
